The Philadelphia Flyers, A.K.A. "The Broad Street Bullies", win their second straight Stanley Cup by defeating a talented Buffalo Sabres squad 4-2 in the finals. The Flyer's brand of physical, indimidating defense is un-rivaled. Philly winger Dave Schultz's 472 penalty minutes is a record that will most likely stand the test of time. Montreal (113 points), Los Angeles (105) & Boston (94) are forces in the regular season, but only the Candadiens are able to advance past the 1st round eventually losing in the semi-finals to the Sabres. The suprising New York Islanders (88 points) give the Flyer's all they can handle in the semi's, but the bullies eventually prevail 4 games to 3.

Flyer's center Bobby Clarke brings home the Hart Memorial Trophy as league MVP with 116 points & 125 penalty minutes. Bruins legend Bobby Orr (46 g, 89 a, 135 p) leads the league in scoring for the second time, the only defenseman in NHL history to accomplish this feat. Philadelphia's Bernie Parent (44-14-10, 2.03 GAA) wins both the Vezina and Conn Smythe Trophies as the league's best goalie and MVP of the playoffs.
