Montreal wins a second consecutive Stanley Cup (the 14th in team history) defeating Detroit 4 games to 2 in the finals. Gordie Howe eclipses the 600 goal mark for the Redwings. The Canadiens lead the league with 90 points. Chicago's Bobby Hull wins Hart Memorial honors as league MVP again, and also leads the league in scoring with 97 points (54 goals, 43 assists). Montreal's Gump Worsley and Charlie Hodge win the Vezina trophy, while fellow goaltender Roger Crozier claims the Conn Smythe trophy as the MVP of the playoffs for Detroit. Toronto's Brit Selby wins Calder Memorial honors as the league's best first-year player.
