ICE NUTZ NHL 1969-70 SEASON TEAM CARDS 

The great Bobby Orr and Phil Esposito lead the Boston Bruins to their fourth Stanley Cup with a 4-0 sweep over St. Louis. Orr (33 g, 87 a, 120 p) has one of the greatest seasons ever by a defensemen, and fills his trophy case with multiple awards including the Hart Memorial (NHL MVP), Art Ross (top point scorer), Conn Smythe (playoff MVP) and James Norris (top defenseman). 

The East is a beast. Five of the NHL’s original six teams (all in the East Division) finish with 90+ points. Toronto is the only team in the East with a losing record. The defending champion Montreal Canadiens (92 points) fall victim to the league’s format and are forced to miss the playoffs despite having a better record than any team in the West. Boston’s Phil Esposito leads the league with 43 goals, while his little brother Tony (38-17-8, .932 SV, 2.17 GAA) wins the Vezina with an incredible rookie season in the net for Chicago. At age 41, the legendary Gordie Howe (31 g, 40 a, 71 p) is Detroit’s top point scorer and finishes 9th in the league overall.
