Could the 2003-04 Tampa Bay Lightning, led by MVP Martin St. Louis, pull off a series upset versus the amazing 1976-77 Montreal Canadiens? Each HISTORIC TEAMS SET features twelve of the greatest hockey teams of all time...

 

SET 3:

1971-72 BOSTON BRUINS: The 54-13-11 Bruins win their second Cup in three years. Bobby Orr has 80 assists. Phil Esposito produces 66 goals and 130 points.  

 

2005-06 CAROLINA HURRICANES: Carolina wins it's first Stanley Cup. Cam Ward takes over for the injured and struggling Martin Gerber in the playoffs and becomes the first rookie goalie to win the Conn Smythe Trophy since Ron Hextall in 1987. Eric Staal has 100 points (45 goals, 55 assists) 

 

2001-02 DETROIT RED WINGS: Considered one of the most talented teams of all time and rightfully so with 10 future hall of famers and hall of fame coach Scotty Bowman. The Wings are pushed to the brink in the Western Conference finals by Colorado, but ultimately prevail and go on to win their 10th championship. 

 

1989-90 EDMONTON OILERS: The Oilers cap off a decade of dominance by winning their fifth Stanely Cup and first in the post-Gretzky era. Mark Messier wins the Hart Memorial Trophy with 45 goals, 84 assists and 129 points.

 

1976-77 MONTREAL CANADIENS: Largely considered one of the greatest teams in history, Montreal posts a mind-blowing 60-8-12 regular season record and cruises to a 20th Stanley Cup victory. Ken Dryden (41 wins) and Michel Larocque (2.09 gaa) win the Vezina. Guy Lafleur (56 goals, 80 assists, 136 points) wins the Hart, Ross and Conn Smythe. Steve Shutt has 60 goals. 

 

1980-81 NEW YORK ISLANDERS: The Islanders successfully defend their title and are in the process of establishing their dynasty. Mike Bossy has 68 goals, while Bryan Trottier adds 72 assists. Butch Goring wins the Conn Smythe scoring 10 goals and 10 assists in 20 playoff games. 

 

1927-28 NEW YORK RANGERS: The Rangers defeat the Montreal Maroons 3 games to 2 and win their first Stanley Cup in the franchise's second season of existence. The team features 5 future hall of famers including Frank Boucher, Bun & Bill Cook and Ching Johnson.

 

1996-97 PHILADELPHIA FLYERS: Phillly once again produces one of the most talented teams to not win a championship. The Flyers rip through the Eastern Conference playoffs dominating all opponents only to be swept by Detroit in the finals. John Leclair nets 50 goals and 97 points. Eric Lindros has 47 assists.

 

1990-91 PITTSBURGH PENGUINS: Mario Lemieux misses the first half of the season with a back injury, but comes back strong to lead his team to a first ever championship. Jaromir Jagr wins Rookie of the Year honors. Mark Recchi has a breakout season with 40 goals and 113 points.

  

2003-04 TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING: The Lightning win their first Stanley Cup in their 12th season as a franchise. Martin St. Louis wins the Hart Memorial and Art Ross trophies with 94 points (38 goals, 56 assists). Brad Richards brings home Conn Smythe honors for his superior play in the playoffs.

 

 

1966-67 TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS: The Leafs defeat arch-rival Montreal in six games to win their 13th championship. Dave Keon wins the Conn Smyth trophy. As of this writing, Toronto has since not made it back to the Stanley Cup finals.

 

1975-76 WINNIPEG JETS: Winnipeg wins it's first Avco Cup wit a 4-0 sweep of the Houston Aeros. The Jet's feature a top line that can rub elbows with best of them. Bobby Hull is brilliant with 53 goals and 70 assists. Ulf Nilsson isnt' too shabby either with 38 goals and 76 assists. Anders Hedberg also eclipses 100 points with 50 goals and 55 assists.

 

 
 

You will receive 12 un-cut TEAM CARDS. Each team features 15 skaters (3 suggested lines) and up to 2 Goaltenders. Also included is an ADDITIONAL PLAYERS ROSTER SHEET featuring up to 5 additional skaters from each of the 12 teams to be used for substitutions and/or a 4th line. Over 250 players, each with specific offensive and defensive ability ratings. On the back of each card is a Team Summary featuring season stats, information, leaders and award winners.
