THE 2019-20 SEASON:

It is the NFL's 100th season. Superstar QB Patrick Mahomes, now in his third campaign, leads the Chiefs (12-4) to the promised land for the first time since 1970 when the team won it's only other Lombardi trophy. 50 years later, the Chiefs are champs once again with a 31-20 victory over a fierce San Francisco 49'ers (13-3) squad. Mahomes is named Super Bowl MVP and Andy Reid is finally rewarded his first championship after 21 years as a head coach. Along the path to glory, K.C. would face stiff challenges from the Houston Texans (11-5) and a surprising Tennessee Titans (9-7) team in the playoffs. In the Divisional Round, the Chiefs trailed the Texans 24-0 in the second quarter before exploding to a 51 to 31 victory. K.C. defeated the Titans 35-24 in the AFC Championship, but the game was tightly contested through three quarters.

The incredible Lamar Jackson breaks the record for most rushing yards (1,206) in a single season for a QB and is crowned league MVP. Jackson's Ravens (14-2) prove to be nearly unbeatable all year long, but are stunned at home 28-12 by Tennessee, who leaves them one and done for the playoffs. Titan's RB Derrick Henry punishes defenses and claims the league rushing title with 1,540 yards. Stephon Gilmore, cornerback for the Patriots (12-4), is voted Defensive Player of the Year with six interceptions, two returned for TD's. New England wins the AFC East for the 11th consecutive year, but like the Ravens are also upset at home by the Titans 20-13 in the Wild Card round. The Pat's AFC East division rival Buffalo (10-6) makes the playoffs for the first time since 1999. Saint's (13-3) receiver Michael Thomas sets a new mark for pass receptions in a season with 149 catches. The other NFC playoff participants include: Green Bay (13-3) Aaron Rodgers leads the Pack to the NFC Championship game; Seattle (11-5) Russell Wilson has an MVP caliber season; Minnesota (10-6) Kirk Cousins guides the Vikes to a huge road playoff win over the Saints; and Philadelphia (9-7) The Eagles win the NFC East for the second time in three years
