Fear the deer! The Milwaukee Bucks, led by two time league MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, finally get over the hump to claim their second title in franchise history, and first since 1971. After a 4-0 revenge sweep of Miami in the opening round, The Bucks would have to battle back from a 1-3 deficit versus a loaded Brooklyn Nets team in round two to advance to the conference championship. Milwaukee would then go on to defeat the surprising Trae Young led Atlanta Hawks, and ultimately the Phoenix Suns in the finals with both series going to six games. Giannis is named finals MVP.
Parity has found it's way back into the NBA with a slew of solid competitors in both conferences. Teams including Philadelphia, Atlanta, Boston, Miami, Dallas, Denver, Phoenix, Utah and both Los Angeles squads are viewed as legitimate title contenders at the start of the playoffs. While parity may be en vogue, defense clearly is not with teams averaging a record 116.5 points per game. Denver's Nikola Jokic (26.4 points / 10.8 rebounds / 8.3 assists) is named league MVP. Rudy Gobert of Utah claims Defensive Player of the Year honors, while LaMelo Ball is named Rookie of the Year.
