Bethpage Black Golf Course  $16.00

Opened in 1936, Bethpage Black is a public golf course at Bethpage State Park on Long IslandNew York.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Bethpage Black Course is famous for the warning sign at the first tee, placed in the early 1980s, which reads "The Black Course Is An Extremely Difficult Course Which We Recommend Only For Highly Skilled Golfers." The course is for walkers only and its slope rating is one of the highest in the northeast. This was one of the last courses designed by master golf course architect A.W. Tillinghast, and is said by many to be his finest work. The narrow fairways, high roughs, well placed bunkers and small greens help to make it one of the most challenging golf courses in the world. In 2002, the Black Course hosted the U.S. Open, which returned in 2009, as well as the 2019 PGA Championship.
